Here's a testimonial and a photo from a member... Hello All, I still have people asking me if it's worth joining the 24K Gold Hunters Club out at Rich Hill. Well, I can't guarantee anyone a nugget, but if you're asking if nuggets are still being found, well here is just some I found on the claims. I know this last weekend 10 or so nuggets were found on the push. The nuggets I have pictured below were all found on the 24K Claims, some on and off the pushes. Some of the nuggets pictured are from a while back, many of them are recent finds. Total weight of the nuggets pictured is 2.23 Troy Ounces. If I was hunting the claims 3-4 days a week I know I would have at least double the amount of gold and weight.
All the nuggets pictured were found with the GP3500 and some with the GPX-4000. There's no doubt if you spent enough time working the pushes and even the surrounding areas you would pay for at least your membership dues. One nice nugget from the area might pay for several detectors and a lifetime membership! There's been a lot of people hitting the pushes, just about everyone with a Minelab is finding a piece here and there. Some of the more experienced hunters are finding more. Anyone considering the club should give Elly a call. You can also join right here on the club website. P.S. Anyone have any patches they want me to check out with the new GPX?
Take care,
ABOUT THE 24 KARAT GOLD HUNTERS The members of the elite group, 24 Karat Gold Hunters, have some of the best and most well known nugget claims in the U.S. to explore and prospect every day, all year. The only exception being when a site on the claims is temporarily closed to allowed machine excavation which opens new pay zones for the 24 K Gold Hunters to explore and prospect. Whether you wish to metal detect for nuggets, dry wash, dredge or pan, these methods are all appropriate to the claims as they have a history of nuggets, large and small, as well as flakes, pickers, and fine gold. 24 Karat Gold Hunters is comprised of people identified by the BLM as casual prospectors. Casual prospectors are people who go out part time and pursue the exploration of mining claims, or potential mining claims to determine the feasibility of a commercial mining operation. We see some strong issues in determining the viability of ever commercially operating these claims: 1. We provide a quality place to hunt for gold. The Rich Hill area is recognized for its abundance of gold in nugget, flake and fine gold forms and has been well documented. But commercial operations have a pitiful success record here. It is not because of lack of gold, it is because of the boulders that destroy equipment. Also, the rugged terrain presents a problem. Prospectors using hand tools, such as detectors, dry washers, and sluices have an amazing recovery record because they are working in harmony with the existing conditions. 2. There is incomplete knowledge as to how the gold really lays in the mountain. There has been nearly one and one half centuries of theories and speculations on where the source is, how it got there and where to find it. From time to time there have been some major finds. But the lack of documentation on WHERE has kept the mystery of Rich Hill alive. We would like to see where all the gold is being found. We will learn from this and it will help you to increase your own recovery. So we will take the forms you fill out with information about your discoveries and chart it on a composite map of all the claims we have. You keep all the gold you find. The composite charts will be helpful information for the members of 24 Karat Gold Hunters. 3. From time to time the 24 Karat Gold Hunters will meet to discuss the ongoing efforts and other issues that are pertinent to our organization and good gold recovery for all members. At such time that we, as a group, can clearly see that we should look into a commercial operation, we will begin to take steps to develop one. We must meet the BLM criteria for a commercial operation before we can do this. All current 24 Karat Gold Hunters will be asked if they wish to participate and all net proceeds will go back to 24 Karat Gold Hunters. 4. Please remember that exploration of this vast amount of gold bearing terrain is not a short term project. Finding the gold sources or major deposits is a slow and painstaking task. The more information we can gather the better the opportunity to step up to the next level. EDUCATION 24 Karat Gold Hunters will offer seminars and workshops throughout the season. These will be directed by some of the best gold people in the industry. Gaining an understanding of gold and its recovery will benefit our members and should play a large part in increasing their recovery. The seminars and workshops are free to 24 Karat Members. Also keep in mind that there are other rewards to be found while you explore. Walking the beautiful mountain desert, seeing the native critters who dwell there, meeting other nice folks with interests similar to yours, making new friends, learning to do something that most people never even try to do -- all these are intangible 24 Karat gold. The claims are open to members all the time. Occasionally, when we excavate for you, a small area that is being machine worked will be closed off, temporarily, and those areas will be marked as such. The majority of the claims will always be open. Enjoy being a 24 Karat Gold Hunter and bring home the gold!!! Remember all the gold you find belongs to you!
